Dholera SIR has been conceptualized as the first smart city of India, a city located in the dynamic state of Gujrat; it is all set to define how modern India shall look like in times to come. This project is a very ambitious and dream project of both the central government and the Gujrat government. A lot of development has to happen in Dholera to make it as a Smart City. Like, construction of a new International Airport, Metro Train, DMIC, Power Hub project etc. It is going to be a very planned city in each and every manner.

Dholera is a town in Ahmedabad district, Gujrat, India. It is located at a distance of 130km from Gujrat capital, Gandhinagar. Situated in the Gulf of Khambhat region, the city is surrounded by water bodies on three sides: Bavaliari creek, Sonaria creek and the Gulf of Khambhat. The distance of DSIR(Dholera Special Investment Region) from special cities: Mumbai (516 Kms), Delhi (815 Kms), Surat (278 Kms), Rajkot (225 Kms) and Gandhinagar(128 Kms).
Before, it was a village with a huge Barren Land, but now it will become the first Smart City of India.

 Features of ABCD Building (Hub) in Dholera City

Dholera - ABCD Building

The ABCD building (Administrative & Business Centre for Dholera) is located west of the expressway within the knowledge and IT land use. The site is located such that it is visible from the expressway and is located close to the area which will be first developed within the overall DSIR.

The ABCD site is directly connected to the 55m arterial road which leads to the expressway. The site will accommodate the offices of the development agencies along with a command and control centre and a skill development centre in a total built-up area of 36,000sqm. The building for the Regional Development Authority (RDA) is envisaged to be a LEED GOLD rated building with facilities to accommodate the entire staff required by the RDA for the city of Dholera.

All criminal and disastrous activities will be displayed in CCTV dis-player and officers get alerted by ABCD Hub.

➽ Dholera, when it comes up, will have its own self-sustaining eco-system. The city's economic growth will be driven by industrialisation, utility, logistics infrastructure and social infrastructure including education, healthcare and other public amenities.  

➽Job opportunities: Dholera will be a world-class destination and is expected to be fully developed by 2030. The city will not only provide thrust to the country's industrial output but will also create more than 8 lakh jobs.

➽ The Gujrat government headed by the Chief Minister Narendra Modi created a legislative framework for the formation of a Special Investment Region Act 2009. Under the act, a regional development authority for DSIR has been established.

➽A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) has been created with the Central Government having 49 per cent stake and the state government had 51 per cent.

➽Dholera Industrial City Development Limited (DICDL) was formed with the initial authorized capital of Rs 6,000 crore. The DMIC trust has already approved the activation trunk infrastructure project on Rs 4,400 crore.

➽Dholera is the biggest of the eight industrial smart cities being developed in the first phase of the $100 on the DMIC Project.
